FOOD ORGANICS AND GARDEN ORGANICS = FOGO!
Your weekly FOGO service is here!
On 30 June 2025 your green organics bin became even greener!
If its cooked, raw or old food, or it grew in your garden, then it can be disposed of in your lime green lidded organics bin. Then ANL process it all into commercial grade compost that can be used to help renew our soils!
We need your help!
Please remove all wrapping, packaging and stickers beforehand – even the little bits! They all add up to a very big problem for the quality of the final compost.
Please only use the council supplied compostable caddy bags (replacements available at no cost to residents). Other bags are removed by hand as waste.
The quality of the compost made from the garden organics collected in our 3 councils over the last 8 years has been spectacular. With care, together we can keep our new FOGO end products just as great.
Check your collection day here.
To help you use the FOGO service, households with a Council waste service will receive a kitchen caddy and 12 months supply of compostable caddy liner bags delivered to your door.
Use the caddy to collect your food scraps and leftovers before placing them in the organics bin.
Remember to remove any packaging or fruit stickers first!
Use the compostable bags to line your caddy to reduce mess and odours from your collected scraps.
To open the compostable liners first remove a bag from the roll.
Unfold the bag from the unsealed side
Rub the top of the bag between your thumb and forefinger to open and then place in your caddy.
The collected organics are processed into commercial grade compost by ANL and are used by farmers, home gardeners, schools and local sports fields. Completing the cycle from organics bin to garden bed and making a scrap load of difference!
To protect the quality of the final product, we have a team of bin inspectors as well as the Solo collection trucks equipped with cameras that record any incorrect material.
