COMPOST GIVE-AWAYs

Cessnock, Maitland and Singleton Councils hold regular compost bag give-away events for residents so you can see the quality of the final product processed by ANL from the material collected in your garden organics bin.

These premium products are used by home gardeners, landscapers, sporting fields, parks and farmers to encourage strong plant growth, provide nutrients, retain soil moisture and suppress weeds.

It’s an ideal soil conditioner or mulch, suitable for natives and exotics and perfect for enriching depleted soils or breaking up heavy clay soils.

Apply to a maximum depth of 100mm and incorporate to a depth of 200mm. Where deeper profiles are being amended, ensure that the final blend contains a maximum of 50% by volume of soil to compost.

The 6 months composting process, ensures an end product of high quality with AS4454-2012 certification. It’s a natural way of completing the cycle from garden organics bin to garden bed! So come and try some for yourself.

Residents from the 3 council areas are eligible to attend any of the events.

Community and Not for Profit groups in the Cessnock, Maitland and Singleton local government areas are invited to apply for FREE compost to support garden projects. Contact our Education Officer Leanne.Sanderson@solo.com.au for more information.

2 x 25L bags of garden organics compost per household. 

You may collect for multiple households with identification for each address.

FAQs

  • Bring your rates notice or drivers licence for proof of residency.
  • No bags will be available prior to the published start time and the event will finish when all the bags are gone.
  • Dates are subject to change due to weather conditions. Check your council’s facebook page on the day or call Solo Resource Recovery on 49478511.

The ‘Garden Organics’ promotional bags of compost are not available for purchase.
